Best tour ever!

We cruised with Carnival Dream, it was a New Years Cruise. I booked an island tour from home, and exchanged emails prior to the trip. I did mess up and thought our reservation time was according to ship so we were an hour late. They were very accommodating and put us on a private tour with Jose Jean.

The tour was great, he took us to see both sides of the island, tailored the tour to what he thought we (and our 10yr old daughter) would enjoy. Boy he was dead on, we loved the Island and our daughter said she would love to live there someday. The island is known for being friendly and that was very true.

“Ask for Jose Jean!”

Jose was the best tour guide ever! He walked up to us at the tourism office and we were a bit skeptical at first, but he seemed knowledgeable and friendly so we decided to go for it. We don't like those big generic tours who make you feel like numbers.

Boy, were we in for the tour of our lives. Jose went out of his way to make the tour customized to what we wanted to see. He took us around the entire island of St. Maartens and stopped all the places we wanted to see plus threw in some interesting personal tidbits. We got to stand at the end of the very short runway and watch the planes pass right overhead. He took us to local shops and restaurants, not the touristy ones, but the great local ones. He walked the old french fort with us and was very patient. He waited while we went to a beautiful beach on the other side of the island. He took us to get coconuts to eat and drink, and took us to see the mangroves, sea lives, and sea shells. I even got to pick up some live conch and sea urchins.

“Nice overview of the island; memorable beaches!”

We had only 1 day in Saint Maarten/St Martin (via cruise ship). We pre-booked the Sightseeing, Sand & Plane Spotting tour and enjoyed an overview of both the Dutch and French sides and stopped at 2 beaches. Maho Beach included watching airplanes literally land and take off at the airport right in front of the beach. The planes coming in to land went directly overhead!

We later relaxed at Orient Beach (even joined in on the clothing optional side for a while! Partially explains the lack of photos-not allowed!) Lunch in Marigot (for us) consisted of a creole seafood combo platter at Rosemary's. Our tour was guided by a lively, friendly man named Jose. Jose was thoughtful enough to adjust our tour so that we spent more time in certain areas by request.
